The Cable Entrance Insulating Plug is a non-conductive closure device used to seal unused cable entrance ports on deadbreak elbow-style connectors, junction cabinets, transformers, and switchgear. It maintains the integrity of the insulation system by preventing moisture, dirt, and debris from entering energized bushings while providing a safe, touch-proof barrier over vacant connection points.
This plug is designed as a direct replacement for the Elastimold 10EP-HAB and equivalent 200-amp, 15/25kV class insulating plugs. It is fully interchangeable with OEM components and meets the same dimensional and performance specifications.

Applications
Cable entrance insulating plugs are used wherever a deadbreak elbow bushing has an unused or temporarily vacant cable port that must be sealed and insulated:
- Pad-mount transformers — Seal unused low-side or high-side bushing wells during initial installation or after cable removal
- Underground distribution switchgear — Close open ports in junction cabinets, sectionalizing switches, and loop-feed enclosures

Why Use an Insulating Plug?
An open bushing port creates multiple risks: moisture intrusion that degrades insulation and causes tracking, contamination from insects and debris, and a potential contact point for personnel or wildlife. The insulating plug eliminates these risks while maintaining the system's BIL (Basic Impulse Level) rating and providing a loadbreak-compatible interface for future cable installation.
